Ski Club Hong Kong was founded in January 1972 by a group of friends, business professionals, and Cathay Pacific pilots who shared a passion for skiing and a deep connection to Hong Kong. The club was established at the Haldenhof in Austria, where the first official meeting was led by Prof. Hubert Schwärzler, the inaugural Ambassador of Ski Club Arlberg. The club's iconic logo—a rickshaw boy skiing downhill—was introduced as a symbol of its unique identity and cultural roots.
Over the decades, Ski Club Hong Kong nurtured its ties with the prestigious Ski Club Arlberg while fostering a vibrant community of ski enthusiasts from Hong Kong. Prof. Hubert Schwärzler kept the club’s legacy alive, and his son, Michael Schwärzler, continued this tradition.
In 2020, Michael took the initiative to reactivate the club, strengthening the connection between Ski Club Arlberg and Hong Kong’s ski community. As an Ambassador of Ski Club Arlberg, Michael proudly introduced new members from Hong Kong while wearing the Ski Club Hong Kong badge with pride.
In 2023, Ski Club Hong Kong was officially reactivated with a renewed vision: to unite ski lovers, cultivate friendships, and create opportunities for cultural and sporting exchanges.
Today, Ski Club Hong Kong proudly hosts annual gatherings in Lech, supports young skiers through exchange programs, and continues its rich tradition of celebrating skiing, camaraderie, and the spirit of adventure.
Our motto remains simple: "Ski Ho!"
